🔗 Customizing URLs and Adding Custom Domains

Configure and personalize your project's domain names


Cloudstation offers flexibility when it comes to customizing and managing domain names for your projects. You can handle two levels of domain customization:


CloudStation Provided Domain

CloudStation automatically assigns a domain to successfully deployed projects in the format of "https://auto-generated.cloud-station.io" (where "auto-generated" is a randomly generated sequence of numbers and characters).



You can easily customize this domain:

  1. Navigate to the Settings panel of your project (per environment).

  2. Click on the edit icon next to the auto-generated domain.

  3. Customize the domain to your preference.

  4. Click "Update" and then redeploy your project with a single click to apply the new URL.



Custom Domains

You have the option to add one or more custom domains to a CloudStation service, each associated with a specific environment. Here's how you can set it up:

  1. Go to the Settings tab of your desired project.

  2. Add a custom domain and provide its name.

  3. Access the configuration information by clicking on the info icon.

  4. Add the necessary CNAME records to your domain's DNS settings.

  5. Be patient as DNS updates can take more than 48 hours to propagate.


Note: Some domain registrars do not fully support CNAME records for the root domain (e.g., Freenom, GoDaddy, Ionos).


Here are two workarounds:

Workaround 1 - Cloudflare Proxy: Configure Cloudflare proxy for your domain to enable proper redirection. Follow Cloudflare's documentation for guidance on this.

Workaround 2 - Changing Your Domain's Nameservers: Change your domain's nameservers to point to Cloudflare's nameservers. This allows you to use a CNAME record for the root domain. Refer to Cloudflare's documentation for instructions on changing your nameservers.
